InformationThere is so much to see and do at Rosliston Forestry Centre.Outdoor ActivitiesWalkingThere's plenty of waymarked walks around the site so you can chose how far you want to go and what type of environments you want to discover on the way. Why not include a visit to the Sensory Garden and a stop off and the wildlife hide? There is an annual programme of walks with a series of themed walks taking place during the summer. Guided Walks These are available to groups for a set charge and can be general or with a theme - bird walks and tree walks are among the options available. Play Areas There's a fence-surrounded play area for the young children which contains a series of interesting wooden equipment as well as traditional swings. For more adventurous youngsters a separate adventure play area offers a climbing tower, rope wall and aerial glide. You can also visit our new natural play area, with sand, stepping stones and lots of exciting opportunities to use your imagination and have great fun. Picnic Areas Visitors are more than welcome to bring their own food and there's plenty of permanent picnic tables with seating in various areas of the site. Fishing The Rolls-Royce Greenheart Lake, tucked away on the southern edge of the site, is very generously stocked. Day permits are available and pre-booking is essential if you want to make an early start. Cycle Hire Adult and children's cycles are available each day to hire. Get on your bike for anything from just an hour to a whole day. You can use our surfaced two hours paths or for the more adventurous try the grassy routes around the perimeter. Falconry Experience Rosliston's Birds of Prey Experiences provide an opportunity to spend time with kings of the skies such as hawks, falcon and owls. Choose sessions from just one hour to a full day. Demonstrations and corporate packages available. All birds of prey activities must be booked in advance. Summer Barbecues What better summer fun than to enjoy your barbecue in our Sensory Garden. Book our barbecue space and bring your own food or let us do it all for you. Laser Games Whether it's laser clay shooting, laser inflatable archery or combat laser in the woods there's plenty of opportunity to get active in the forest. Drop in 'have a go' sessions throughout the year and group bookings available. Ring to check availability. Orienteering Try your new skill on our new orienteering course - see how good you are at following the map at speed! All abilities route available. Top of Page Clubs and ClassesSummer and Winter Bird Courses Both on Mondays from 10am to noonLocal tutor Brian George leads these popular courses that look at our native birds and their habitats. Meetings are a mixture of indoor and outdoor sessions and you can join at any time. Astronomy Group An informal group that usually meets on the last Friday of the month. The meetings are open to everyone and are family-friendly, with activities suitable for children and more advanced details provided for adults. Videos, talks, slide shows and information on what to look for in the night sky are all included. Adult Craft Classes Have a go at making and painting your own doll's house Top of Page Facilities for HireMeeting RoomsWe have three rooms of varying capacities that are ideal for meetings, training days and corporate get-togethers. The Hub in the forest Situated in the heart of Rosliston Forestry Centre, The Hub Café offers panoramic views over the site and an outdoor seating area. Hot and cold snacks are available to eat in or take away with hot and soft drinks and a variety of delicious cakes. The café is open daily 10am until 4pm and is fully licensed. Catering facilities are available for buffets and children’s parties, please contact 01283 538909 for a menu or to make a booking. Set in a relaxed atmosphere The Hub café is the ideal place to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Birthday Parties For great fun and interesting birthday celebrations for your children why not try one of Rosliston Forestry Centre's activity parties?
