Rosliston Forestry Centre
The Forestry Centre

This South Derbyshire attraction is home to kestrels, owls and kingfishers as well as bats and butterflies in summer, while Rosliston’s mix of woodland, fishing lake, walks, cycle routes – plus cycle hire– and play areas is tailor-made for a great family day out.
But there’s more. Our six, secluded Forest Lodges each provide luxury holiday accommodation and are fully wheelchair accessible for holidays for people with disabilities. We are also renowned as a romantic location for outdoor weddings in The Glade, a leafy setting in the woods with a hand-carved wooden gazebo for both wedding ceremonies and marquee receptions.
Our story began with the planting of 120,000 trees between 1993 and 1997, creating a young woodland intertwined with the more mature trees in the hedgerows and Fox Covert.
Rosliston is a living forest just waiting to be explored.
The Environmental Education Project
The award-winning Environmental Education Project based on site organises family friendly activities as part of our ‘Wildlife Watch’ programme, as well as school and group visits.
Whether outdoor activities or indoor activities, we offer a very warm family welcome. Visit the bird hide or have fun on the outdoor adventure play equipment. In season, pick fruit from the Forest including sloes, elderberries and blackberries as well as the occasional hazel nut (if you can beat the squirrels to them!)
Our site is also famous for its access to “Conker Alley” and there are lots of conkers to be collected along the boundary footpath, in early Autumn.
If you want to pick crab apples, other apples or sweet chestnuts please check with us first as we do use them for some education activities and need to see them on the trees until mid-end October!
For more information ring the Education Team on 01283 535039 or visit our Education section.
