Trails To Download

A number of themed trails are able to be followed around the site. These are fun activities to help keep children engaged as you walk around.

Pick up a Site Guide when you arrive, or download our site map here.

If you fancy trying something new, you might want to investigate one of our trails:

Tree trail

If you enjoy finding out about trees, you can follow our ‘tree trail’ which starts opposite the garden (see our site map). There are between 3 and 6 individual trees for each of the species on the trail and they have their own information board out on site.  You can also download the information here.

Sculpture Trail

The Sculpture Trail, called ‘Wild and Woody’ is a mile long and includes information and quiz questions. Find all our amazing sculptures of local wildlife dotted around site! You can download it here or buy a copy in the shop for a small donation. It starts on the Picnic Area.
(please note: some sculptures on the trail are currently missing)

Poetry Trail

The Poetry Trail is just under a mile long and involves following poetry clues from one board to the next. The first clue board is opposite reception but the trail starts properly at the main noticeboard on the Picnic Area.

Science Trail

Our Science Trail is 1.5 miles and includes simple, fun, science-based activities which you can try out as you explore the site. The first board is on the main noticeboard on the picnic area and each board tells you how to find the next one.

Experts from Rolls-Royce plc and the University of Derby have helped with the information and activities for this trail. Additional information and extension activities/curriculum links for schools is available through contacting us.

Teddy Bear Trail

The Teddy Trail at Rosliston is one of the many adventures of Bertie Bear. You can find out more about Bertie and his travels at Healthier South Derbyshire.

Bertie has left his footprints around the site – can you find them? This is a great activity for small children – can they work out what Bertie might have been doing in each area? We think Bertie likes hiding, climbing trees, looking for shelter – what do you think?

Ask for more information about this trail in the shop.

We also offer a special curriculum-linked Teddy Trail for Early Years School and Nursery groups.

Contact the Environmental Education Project team to book a guided or self-led session.
